The work
You will design realistic engineering projects used to create high-quality AI training tasks. The work covers mechanical, electrical, hardware, software, and manufacturing decisions.
You will turn project goals into system architectures, define how subsystems connect, and create structured tasks that experts can complete and evaluate.
- Design complex engineering workflows and system architectures.
- Define system boundaries, subsystem responsibilities, interfaces, and technical constraints.
- Break architectural problems into connected tasks with clear inputs, deliverables, dependencies, and expert responsibilities.
- Set technical objectives and evaluation criteria for realistic engineering workflows.
- Use architecture reviews, interface management, and technical trade studies.
What it pays and takes
This is a part-time contractor role.
- Pay: $150-$300 per hour.
- Work type: Part-time contract work.
- Location: Open to candidates in AE, AR, AT, BD, BE, BH, BR, CA, CH, CL, CO, DE, DK, DZ, EG, ES, FR, GB, GH, GR, ID, IN, IT, JO, JP, KE, KG, KW, KZ, LB, LK, MA, MX, MY, NG, NL, OM, PE, PH, PK, PS, PT, QA, SA, SG, TH, TN, TW, US, UZ, VN, and ZA.
- Language: English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
- Required experience: Substantial professional experience as a Systems Architect, Chief Systems Architect, or comparable technical leader.
- Required skills: Ownership of complex engineering architectures, multidisciplinary technical leadership, system architecture design, technical trade studies, interface management, and architecture reviews.
- Helpful background: Model-based systems engineering, SysML, architecture modeling tools, relevant graduate study, or experience moving architectures from concept through implementation, integration, and deployment.
- Relevant industries may include aerospace, automotive, robotics, industrial systems, and medical devices.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
The hiring platform's application for this job asks for your resume, your LinkedIn profile, your phone number, your location and answers to 7 screening questions.
About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples, including designing tasks and reviewing model behavior. People with deep engineering experience are needed to create realistic examples, judge technical quality, and teach AI systems how to handle complex decisions.
