The Work
You will turn advanced technical judgment into clear questions, scoring rules, and reference answers used to improve AI systems. The work covers STEM and technical subjects, with a focus on whether solutions use sound reasoning rather than only reaching the right final answer.
- Write expert-level technical questions that test genuine multi-step reasoning and reveal weaknesses in AI systems.
- Create rubrics covering required reasoning, correct methods, acceptable alternatives, partial credit, and critical errors.
- Evaluate AI-generated solutions for correctness, reasoning quality, completeness, methodology, and technical precision.
- Find hidden errors, including correct conclusions reached through invalid assumptions or flawed logic.
- Review other experts’ rubrics for ambiguity, missing criteria, redundancy, technical accuracy, and consistent scoring.
- Create expert answers, explanations, and gold-standard evaluations for reinforcement learning and supervised fine-tuning workflows.
What It Pays and Takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor role for candidates in the United States. It is listed as entry level, and the role also calls for substantial technical experience and advanced subject expertise.
- Pay: $100 per hour.
- Time: 20+ hours per week.
- Location: Open to candidates in the United States.
- Language: Professional proficiency in English at C1 or higher, including precise technical writing.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering, computer science, statistics, applied science, or another technical discipline.
- Experience: At least 3 years of professional, academic, research, or industry experience in your stated technical domain.
- Expertise: Advanced knowledge in a clearly defined technical field or specialization.
- Skills: Ability to design detailed rubrics, separate valid reasoning from flawed reasoning, and write precise evaluation criteria.
- Preferred background: Exam writing, academic grading, peer or research review, technical quality assurance, standards development, or assessment design.
- Preferred experience: AI evaluation, reinforcement learning from human feedback, supervised fine-tuning, benchmarking, data annotation, prompt design, or large language model evaluation.
