The work
You will create reproducible coding environments and reference solutions for AI evaluation. Your work will help test whether AI models can fix code, build features, refactor systems, and improve performance.
- Create software engineering problems and matching golden reference solutions.
- Write code samples, debugging strategies, and development guidance in supported programming languages.
- Analyze complex defects and performance bottlenecks in different codebases.
- Build maintainable features and improve older code for clarity, efficiency, and reliability.
- Document your technical reasoning, solution methods, and code decisions.
- Review and validate other contributors' code and technical submissions for accuracy and clarity.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor role focused on software engineering code evaluation.
- $50 to $100 per hour equivalent, paid per task that meets the project specifications.
- Approximately 15 hours per week, with a time requirement of less than 20 hours per week.
- Open to candidates in: AE, AR, AT, BD, BE, BH, BR, CA, CH, CL, CO, DE, DK, DZ, EG, ES, FR, GB, GH, GR, ID, IN, IT, JO, JP, KE, KG, KW, KZ, LB, LK, MA, MX, MY, NG, NL, OM, PE, PH, PK, PS, PT, QA, SA, SG, TH, TN, TW, US, UZ, VN, ZA.
- Professional fluency in English is required.
- Significant hands-on expertise in at least one of Python 3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript.
- Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.
- Ability to debug complex systems, resolve defects, and improve performance.
- Experience with large-codebase refactoring or legacy system modernization.
- Ability to explain technical ideas and document engineering decisions clearly.
- Experience delivering major features from planning through completion in cross-functional projects is helpful.
- Previous AI experience is not required.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
About AI training work
AI training work uses human-created examples, reviews, and feedback to improve how AI systems perform. Software engineers are needed for specialist projects because they can judge code quality, debugging approaches, system design, and technical accuracy.
