The Work
You will help create training and evaluation datasets for realistic software engineering problems. The work focuses on open-source repositories, GitHub issues, test quality, and local code execution.
You will also work with researchers to find repositories and issues that are difficult for large language models. Your technical judgment may include leading junior engineers on project work.
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across open-source libraries.
- Set up repositories, including Dockerization and environment configuration.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and the quality of software tasks.
- Run and modify codebases locally to assess LLM bug-fixing performance.
- Work with researchers to identify challenging repositories and issues.

About AI Training Work
AI training work is the human work behind systems that learn from examples. In this role, software engineers evaluate code and model outputs so AI systems can improve at realistic programming tasks; people with strong technical experience are needed for that judgment.
OpenTrain brings AI training and data-labeling projects together in one place, helping contributors discover roles and build careers in this growing field.
