The Work
You will help train AI systems by creating and reviewing technical content for complex engineering problems. Your work will focus on Scala, the JVM, concurrency, distributed systems, and functional correctness.
- Review AI-generated Scala code, system designs, and technical explanations.
- Write reference implementations, high-quality answers, detailed prompts, and step-by-step reasoning for Scala and JVM topics.
- Compare and rank AI responses for correctness, clarity, safety, performance, and reasoning quality.
- Find bugs and subtle issues involving concurrency, distributed systems, JVM behavior, and resource handling.
- Fact-check technical information and explain why an answer is strong or weak.
- Check outputs for inaccuracies, unsafe patterns, and bias across real-world use cases.
What It Pays and Takes
This is an intermediate, part-time contract role. You must be able to write clear technical explanations in English and bring strong professional experience with Scala and JVM-based systems.
- $70 per hour.
- 20+ hours per week.
- Open to candidates in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Cambodia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, the United States, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
- Minimum C1 English proficiency.
- Strong professional Scala experience with Scala 2.13 or later, or Scala 3.
- Deep JVM knowledge, including the memory model, garbage collection, profiling, and performance tuning.
- Experience with concurrency and effect systems or actor-based systems such as cats-effect, ZIO, Akka, or Pekko.
- Distributed systems experience with microservices, messaging, retries, idempotency, backpressure, and consistency tradeoffs.
- Strong testing skills, including unit, integration, and property-based testing.
- Comfort with sbt, Maven or Gradle interoperability, and version control best practices.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Prior experience with AI data training, annotation, or reviewing AI-generated technical content is a strong advantage.

About AI Training Work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples, including writing prompts, creating reference answers, and rating model responses. People with strong technical experience help identify accurate, safe, and useful outputs so AI systems improve.
