The work
You will help train AI systems by creating strong examples and judging the quality of their technical answers. The work focuses on Scala code, JVM systems, system designs, and clear explanations of complex engineering problems.
- Review AI-generated Scala code, system designs, and technical explanations.
- Write reference implementations, detailed prompts, step-by-step reasoning, and model answers for Scala and JVM topics.
- Compare and rank AI responses for correctness, clarity, safety, performance, and reasoning quality.
- Find subtle issues involving concurrency, distributed systems, JVM behavior, functional correctness, and resource handling.
- Check outputs for inaccurate information, unsafe patterns, and bias across real-world use cases.
- Fact-check technical content and explain why a solution is correct or needs improvement.
What it pays and takes
This is remote, part-time contractor work for an intermediate-level professional. You must be able to write clear technical explanations in English and have strong hands-on experience with Scala and JVM systems.
- Pay: $70 USD per hour.
- Time: 20+ hours per week.
- Work type: Remote, part-time contractor.
- Location: Available in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Cambodia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, the United States, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
- Language: Minimum C1 English proficiency.
- Scala: Strong professional experience with Scala 2.13 or later, or Scala 3.
- JVM: Deep knowledge of the memory model, garbage collection, profiling, and performance tuning.
- Concurrency: Experience with effect systems or actor-based systems such as cats-effect, ZIO, Akka, or Pekko.
- Distributed systems: Experience with microservices, messaging, retries, idempotency, backpressure, and consistency tradeoffs.
- Testing: Strong practices in unit testing, integration testing, and property-based testing.
- Tools: Comfort with sbt, Maven or Gradle interoperability, and version control best practices.
- Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- AI experience: Prior work in AI data training, annotation, or evaluation of AI-generated technical content is a strong plus.
