The work
You will help improve AI systems by creating realistic robotics problems and reviewing their responses. Your work should reflect how robotic systems are designed, simulated, deployed, and operated in real conditions.
You will work independently in a remote, asynchronous setting. Assignments can be completed at your own pace and may fit alongside your current role.
- Create expert-level robotics problems and scenarios based on real engineering decisions and deployment conditions.
- Build complete robotics tasks from simulation or system design through a workable solution.
- Review AI-generated robotics content for technical accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with real-world engineering practice.
- Write structured feedback that explains errors and helps improve AI model performance.
What it pays and takes
This is ongoing, project-based freelance work for people with hands-on robotics engineering or research experience. The role is open to candidates in the United States and requires fluent English.
- Pay: Up to $75 per hour.
- Work type: Remote, project-based contractor work with part-time flexibility.
- Time: 20+ hours per week, with no set schedule or minimum schedule stated in the role description; assignments can be completed at your own pace.
- Location: Open to candidates in the United States.
- Language: Fluent English.
- Experience: Hands-on industry or research experience, including shipped robotic systems or published robotics research.
- Technical depth: Ability to build a full robotics task from simulation or system design through a solution.
- Knowledge: Strong experience with ROS or ROS2 and one or more of control theory, motion planning, kinematics and dynamics, sensor fusion, SLAM, or robotics simulation.
- Communication: Strong writing, careful attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex robotics concepts clearly.
- Helpful background: An MS or PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with a robotics focus; equivalent senior robotics engineering experience is also helpful.
- Helpful tools and experience: ROS or ROS2, MuJoCo, Gazebo, or Isaac Sim, plus experience shipping robotic systems to production or publishing in robotics venues.
