The work
You will help train and test advanced AI models and agents on biology and life sciences. The work combines scientific problem design, expert review, written feedback, and benchmark development.
You will explain why an answer is wrong or incomplete and turn real research or laboratory workflows into tasks that AI systems can learn from and be evaluated on.
- Create difficult, research-grade biology and life sciences problems.
- Review AI model and agent outputs for accuracy, scientific rigor, and reasoning quality.
- Give clear, structured feedback and explain expert-level errors.
- Build and refine benchmarks, datasets, and evaluation tasks.
- Translate research and laboratory workflows into AI training and testing tasks.
- Adapt your work as research priorities and project scope change.
What it pays and takes
This is a contractor engagement for a remote contributor with advanced scientific training. The work requires independent judgment, careful written explanations, and strong attention to detail.
- Pay: No rate is provided.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, including 8 hours of overlap with Pacific Time.
- Duration: Up to five weeks.
- Location: Worldwide and remote.
- Language: Professional fluency in English.
- Education: PhD in biology or a related life sciences field.
- Research: Hands-on research experience is required, ideally supported by peer-reviewed publications.
- Relevant fields include molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, neuroscience, immunology, microbiology, bioinformatics, and computational biology.
- Skills: Create challenging scientific problems, explain complex reasoning clearly in writing, work independently, and maintain close attention to detail.
- Helpful experience: Python, R, command-line tools, scientific computing, data analysis, computational biology, bioinformatics pipelines, or laboratory-to-data workflows.

About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that generate and understand information. Experts create examples, review model responses, and explain errors so AI systems can become more accurate and useful; specialized knowledge is important when the work involves fields such as biology.
