The work
You will create and assess expert-level technical content used to train and evaluate AI systems. The work covers optics, photonics, electromagnetics, RF, and communications systems.
You will use practical modeling knowledge to judge whether submitted solutions are correct, detailed, and technically sound.
- Design realistic technical scenarios and problem sets.
- Write expert-level reference solutions.
- Create grading rubrics for technical work.
- Review submitted solutions for correctness, depth, and sound domain judgment.
- Use computational modeling experience to identify strong, incomplete, or incorrect solutions.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, project-based contractor role with flexible, asynchronous work. It is intended to fit around other professional commitments.
- Pay: $100 per hour.
- Time: 20+ hours per week.
- Location: Remote and open to candidates in the eligible countries specified for the role across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America.
- Language: Fluent in English.
- Experience: At least one year of hands-on modeling experience with optical, photonic, electromagnetic, RF, or communications systems.
- Tools: Working proficiency with a relevant simulation tool such as Lumerical, Zemax, Code V, RSoft, COMSOL, Ansys HFSS, CST, Meep, or Tidy3D.
- Education: A bachelor's, master's, or PhD in a relevant area.
- Work style: Current or recent hands-on activity in the field and comfort working independently in a remote, asynchronous setting.
- Helpful experience: Evaluation, peer review, code review, grading, or editing of technical work.
- Additional relevant areas include integrated photonics and PIC design, metasurfaces and nanophotonics, antenna and RF systems, fiber optic communications, and DSP or wireless PHY.
