The work
This role supports an AI training project involving machine-learning model development, training and inference systems, numerical computing, performance optimization, and Python. The title names a Machine Learning Researcher role, while the duties describe machine-learning engineering task review, so review the duties and qualifications before applying.
- Create, solve, review, and validate machine-learning engineering tasks.
- Develop and validate models, training pipelines, inference systems, evaluation systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- Implement model components, data pipelines, and numerical methods.
- Build reproducible workflows with Python and command-line tools.
- Modify models, investigate numerical or system-level failures, improve memory use or throughput, and verify objective requirements.
What it pays and takes
Familiarity with several machine-learning and numerical-computing tools is helpful.
- $60 to $120 per hour equivalent, paid per task that meets the project specifications.
- Approximately 15 hours per week with flexible scheduling.
- Fully remote contractor opportunity.
- Open to candidates in the countries specified by the listing across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
- A master's degree or PhD in computer science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Strong professional or research experience in machine learning and practical proficiency with Python and coding agents.
- Ability to handle coding-intensive problems involving models, systems, and numerical computing.
- Experience in a technology company, AI laboratory, research organization, or recognized engineering environment is preferred.
- Exceptional open-source or academic experience may also qualify.
- Helpful tools include PyTorch, JAX, NumPy, SciPy, SGLang, vLLM, llama.cpp, tokenizers, and transformers.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind artificial intelligence, including building, testing, and rating models and their outputs. People with advanced technical experience are paid for solving specialist tasks that help make these systems more accurate and reliable.
