The work
You will help improve AI systems by creating difficult linguistics questions and reviewing the answers they produce. Your feedback should explain what is accurate, what is wrong, and how the reasoning could improve.
The work connects AI outputs with real linguistics research and analytical methods. It is completed independently in a remote, asynchronous setting.
- Create expert-level linguistics problems based on analytical, corpus, and computational methods.
- Review AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, sound reasoning, and practical relevance.
- Write structured feedback that explains the strengths and errors in each response.
- Evaluate topics such as morphology, syntax, phonology, phonetics, formal grammars, corpus methods, low-resource languages, and computational linguistics.
What it pays and takes
This is ongoing, project-based contract work that can be done alongside another role. Tasks are completed at a flexible pace with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement stated in the role description.
- Pay: up to $65 per hour.
- Workload: 20+ hours per week.
- Location: Open to candidates in the United States.
- Work setting: Remote, asynchronous, part-time contract work.
- Language: Fluent in English.
- Education: PhD or MS in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics, or equivalent advanced academic preparation.
- Research: Publications and expertise in a language or linguistic phenomenon.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of at least one area such as morphology, syntax, phonology, corpus methods, low-resource languages, phonetics, or computational linguistics.
- Communication: Explain complex linguistic ideas clearly, assess technical reasoning in writing, work independently, and maintain close attention to detail.
- Helpful background: Praat, IPA, computational or NLP tools, corpus analysis software, low-resource languages, or typologically diverse languages.
- Candidates with experience in at least two core qualification areas are encouraged to contribute their specialized perspective.
