The work
You will evaluate complex life science problems and AI-generated responses used for AI model evaluation and data curation. The work requires careful scientific judgment across biology and related fields.
The role includes reviewing research findings, experimental methods, datasets, computational models, and scientific literature. The listing title identifies the role as a biology-focused Life Sciences Subject Matter Expert, so review the duties and qualifications carefully before applying.
- Assess biological mechanisms, research findings, experimental methods, datasets, and computational models.
- Identify unsupported claims, methodological errors, gaps in reasoning, weak controls, poor statistical analysis, and conclusions that lack evidence.
- Create evaluation frameworks, scoring rubrics, and reference answers for scientific review.
- Help resolve reviewer disagreements and document scientifically supported decisions.
- Write clear commentary and provide specialized consultation within your research or industry domain.
What it takes
Peer-reviewed publications, patents, substantial scientific projects, or a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or above are helpful. Experience leading scientific review, applying consistent quality standards, and following project protocols also supports success.

- Worldwide, remote work.
- Fluent in English.
- Contract, part-time role.
- PhD in life sciences, biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a closely related discipline.
- At least three years of post-PhD research, teaching, or relevant industry experience.
- Current or recent work in academic research, industrial research and development, or a recognized research institution.
- Specialized expertise in at least one life science area, such as molecular and cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, neuroscience, physiology, ecology, pharmacology, or computational biology.
- Experience with relevant experimental or computational methods, such as sequencing, microscopy, flow cytometry, biochemical assays, bioinformatics, or biological modeling.
- Ability to assess scientific literature, experimental controls, statistical methods, and data interpretation.
- Strong written communication and the ability to document clear scientific decisions and consensus.

About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind many AI systems. Contributors review model responses, assess evidence, and prepare reliable examples so models can produce more accurate and useful results; specialized experts are needed when the work depends on scientific judgment.
