The work
You will help evaluate and improve AI systems by testing their scientific reasoning across wet-lab and computational biology. Your work will connect experimental knowledge, computational analysis, primary research literature, and clear written explanations.
- Create challenging life sciences questions with clear, verifiable answers.
- Review AI responses for subtle scientific errors, weak reasoning, and unsupported claims.
- Write detailed rubrics and reference answers based on primary literature and established methods.
- Assess experiments, analysis pipelines, and interpretations across genomics, transcriptomics, single-cell and spatial omics, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, microbiome research, structural biology, drug discovery, systems biology, and clinical or translational research.
- Explain your decisions clearly so other experts can review the reasoning and support quality through feedback and peer review.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor role. The work is listed as entry level, but it requires advanced scientific training and hands-on research experience.
- Pay: $45 to $90 per hour.
- Work type: Remote contractor and part-time.
- Location: Open to candidates in the countries specified for this role.
- Language: Professional written and spoken English at C1 level or higher.
- Education: Completed PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Microbiology, or a closely related life sciences field.
- Experience: Hands-on research in an academic, institutional, or industry laboratory.
- Core skill: Expert judgment when evaluating scientific claims, experimental designs, computational analyses, and interpretations.
- Helpful experience: PCR or qPCR, cell culture, sequencing library preparation, Western blotting, protein purification, LC-MS sample preparation, or CRISPR workflows.
- Helpful background: Postdoctoral, staff scientist, research faculty, or equivalent experience, plus peer-reviewed publications, especially as a first or corresponding author.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that generate and evaluate information. People review model answers, create examples, and explain errors so AI systems can produce more accurate and useful results; specialist expertise matters when the subject requires advanced scientific judgment.
