The work
You will help evaluate and improve AI systems by testing their scientific reasoning. The work combines wet-lab knowledge, computational biology, primary literature, and clear written explanations.
- Create challenging life sciences problems with clear, verifiable solutions.
- Review AI responses for scientific errors, weak reasoning, and missing detail.
- Write rubrics and reference answers based on primary literature and accepted methods.
- Assess experiments, analysis pipelines, and interpretations across areas such as genomics, transcriptomics, single-cell and spatial omics, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, microbiome research, structural biology, drug discovery, systems biology, and clinical or translational research.
- Explain your decisions clearly so other experts can review the reasoning and support quality through feedback and peer review.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, part-time contract role.
- Pay: $45 to $90 per hour.
- Location: Remote and open to candidates in the countries specified for this role across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
- Language: Professional written and spoken English at C1 level or higher.
- Education: A completed PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Microbiology, or a closely related life sciences field.
- Required experience: Hands-on research in an academic, institutional, or industry laboratory.
- Required ability: Evaluate scientific claims, experimental designs, computational analyses, and interpretations with expert-level judgment.
- Helpful experience: PCR or qPCR, cell culture, sequencing library preparation, Western blotting, protein purification, LC-MS sample preparation, or CRISPR workflows.
- Helpful background: Postdoctoral, staff scientist, research faculty, or equivalent experience, plus peer-reviewed publications, especially as a first or corresponding author.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
The hiring platform's application for this job asks for your resume, your LinkedIn profile, your phone number, your location and answers to 4 screening questions.
About AI training work
AI training work uses human judgment to prepare examples and review outputs that help AI systems improve. People with strong scientific experience are needed to judge whether model answers, methods, and explanations are accurate and useful.
