The work
You will help evaluate and improve AI systems by applying expert scientific judgment to advanced life sciences problems and AI-generated responses. Your work will cover both wet-lab and computational biology, with explanations clear enough for other experts to review.
- Design challenging life sciences questions with clear, verifiable answers.
- Review AI responses for subtle errors in scientific accuracy, rigor, and depth.
- Create detailed rubrics and reference answers based on primary research literature and established methods.
- Assess experiments, computational analysis pipelines, and scientific interpretations.
- Review work across genomics, transcriptomics, single-cell and spatial omics, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, microbiome research, structural biology, drug discovery, systems biology, and clinical or translational research.
- Explain your decisions clearly and support quality through feedback and peer review.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor role. The work is open to candidates in the countries listed for this role.
- Pay: $45 to $90 per hour.
- Language: professional written and spoken English at C1 level or higher.
- Education: a completed PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Microbiology, or a closely related life sciences field.
- Experience: hands-on research in an academic, institutional, or industry laboratory.
- You must be able to assess scientific claims, experimental designs, computational analyses, and interpretations with expert-level judgment.
- Helpful experience includes PCR or qPCR, cell culture, sequencing library preparation, Western blotting, protein purification, LC-MS sample preparation, or CRISPR workflows.
- Postdoctoral, staff scientist, research faculty, or equivalent experience is helpful, as are peer-reviewed publications, especially as a first or corresponding author.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples. In this role, your scientific expertise helps assess model responses and shape how AI handles complex life sciences questions.
