The work
You will review inpatient medical records and clinical documentation while evaluating AI-generated content. Your coding judgment will help assess the accuracy and quality of AI systems used with inpatient information.
The role combines medical coding review with structured evaluation. You will use current inpatient standards to identify coding issues, documentation gaps, and discrepancies in diagnoses and procedures.
- Review inpatient records for accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding.
- Determine principal and secondary diagnoses for complete admissions.
- Assess how MCCs, CCs, procedures, and POA concepts affect DRG assignment.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, and flag opportunities for provider queries.
- Evaluate AI-generated clinical notes, summaries, patient information, and code suggestions.
- Resolve diagnosis and procedure coding discrepancies.
- Enter and validate AI-generated patient information in inpatient medical record and encoder systems.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor role for candidates in the United States. The work requires detailed inpatient coding knowledge and careful review of clinical documentation and AI-generated content.
- Pay: $50 to $70 per hour.
- Schedule: Less than 20 hours per week, with at least 10 hours per week expected.
- Location: Remote and open to candidates in the United States.
- Language: Professional fluency in English.
- Credentials such as CIC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, or another AHIMA or AAPC coding credential are preferred.
- Current inpatient ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of DRG assignment, MCC and CC concepts, and POA indicators is preferred.
- Familiarity with official ICD-10 code sets, current guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic, clinical documentation review, and inpatient medical record or encoder systems is valuable.
- Experience in inpatient coding, clinical documentation improvement, or a closely related field is preferred.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples. In this role, medical coding expertise helps evaluate and improve model-generated clinical content, which is why specialized experience is important.
