The Work
You will review electronics manufacturing and inspection materials used to train AI systems. The work involves applying engineering judgment to assess manufacturability, compliance, defects, inspection results, and possible corrective actions.
You will also turn your findings into clear reports and feedback that technical and non-technical readers can understand.
- Review PCB CAM and Gerber files for manufacturability, quality, and compliance with industry standards.
- Inspect PCB assemblies and wire harness builds using IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 criteria.
- Analyze SMT and AOI defect types, identify false calls, and assess root causes and remediation options.
- Evaluate counterfeit electronic parts using AS6081 risk indicators and mitigation principles.
- Interpret C-SAM and X-ray inspection results for semiconductor packages, including die inspection and MIL-STD-883 checks.
- Help refine AI training workflows and datasets through structured technical evaluation.
What It Pays and Takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor role. It is open to candidates in the countries listed for this role, with US-based candidates preferred.

- At least eight years of hands-on experience in electronics quality, CAM engineering, or failure analysis.
- Practical experience with PCB assembly, wire harnesses, or semiconductor packaging.
- Strong knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 inspection criteria.
- Experience reviewing Gerber data and using PCB CAM software for quality and manufacturability assessment.
- Proficiency with SMT processes, AOI defect analysis, AS6081 counterfeit component screening, C-SAM, X-ray inspection, and MIL-STD-883 procedures.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
- IPC CIS or CIT certification is strongly preferred.
- Prior AI training or data-labeling experience is not required.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
About AI Training Work
AI training work is the human work behind AI systems, including reviewing documents, rating outputs, and preparing feedback or structured data. Experienced professionals are needed when the work depends on specialized judgment, such as electronics inspection and manufacturing quality.
