The Work
You will create realistic civil and structural engineering problems and assess technical work produced by AI systems. Your reviews will focus on whether the work is accurate, practical, aligned with industry standards, and useful in real engineering and construction settings.
You will also write clear feedback that explains technical issues and helps improve AI performance on engineering tasks.
- Create scenarios based on design, modeling, estimating, construction, and project workflows.
- Review calculations, assumptions, models, quantities, estimates, and design recommendations.
- Assess structural design, code compliance, fabrication-accurate modeling, quantity takeoffs, estimating, and applied engineering analysis.
- Evaluate construction documentation and technical deliverables for real-world applicability.
- Explain complex civil and structural engineering concepts in structured written feedback.
What It Pays And Takes
This is ongoing, project-based contract work that can be completed alongside a current role. The work is remote and asynchronous, with a self-directed schedule.
- Pay: Up to $90 per hour.
- Time requirement: 20+ hours per week.
- Location: Open to candidates in the United States.
- Language: Professional fluency in English.
- Experience level: Entry level.
- Recent professional experience as a civil or structural engineer, either currently or within the past three years.
- BS, MS, or PhD in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Hands-on ownership of models, calculations, quantities, estimates, construction documents, or other technical deliverables used to build, price, review, or approve work.
- Technical depth in at least one area such as code-based structural design, fabrication-accurate modeling, quantity takeoff, estimating, applied simulation, construction documentation, or building and infrastructure design.
- Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- PE licensure, EIT certification, building code experience, or familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Tekla Structures, SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System, or RISA may be useful.
- Experience with steel, reinforced concrete, timber, masonry, foundations, specialty structures, BIM workflows, quantity surveying, cost modeling, takeoff software, detailing, or multidisciplinary coordination may also be relevant.

About AI Training Work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples, including reviewing answers, checking technical reasoning, and rating model outputs. People with professional engineering knowledge help make these systems more accurate and useful in real work.
