The work
You will help improve AI systems by creating realistic civil and structural engineering problems and reviewing the answers they produce. Your feedback will focus on technical accuracy, practical feasibility, code compliance, and real engineering practice.
The work covers design, modeling, estimating, construction, and project workflows. You will explain your decisions clearly so the feedback can be used to improve AI performance.
- Create expert-level civil and structural engineering problems and scenarios.
- Review AI-generated responses for technical accuracy and practical feasibility.
- Check calculations, assumptions, models, quantities, estimates, and design recommendations.
- Assess work involving structural design, code compliance, fabrication-accurate modeling, quantity takeoffs, estimating, and applied engineering analysis.
- Write clear, structured feedback about technical civil and structural engineering concepts.
What it pays and takes
This is ongoing, project-based contract work that can be completed alongside a current role. It is remote and asynchronous, with no minimum-hour requirement and the flexibility to set your own schedule.
- Pay: Up to $72 per hour.
- Location: Open to candidates in Canada.
- Hours: Flexible schedule with no minimum-hour requirement.
- Education: A BS, MS, or PhD in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Current civil or structural engineering practice, or professional experience in the field within the past three years.
- Technical experience: Hands-on work producing models, calculations, quantities, estimates, or other deliverables used to build, price, review, or approve work.
- Specialization: Depth in at least one area such as code-based structural design, fabrication-accurate modeling, quantity takeoff, estimating, applied simulation, construction documentation, or building and infrastructure design.
- Work style: Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex engineering ideas clearly while working independently in a remote setting.
- Helpful background: A PE license or EIT certification, building code and structural standards experience, or familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Tekla Structures, SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System, or RISA.
- Additional helpful experience: Steel, reinforced concrete, timber, masonry, foundations, BIM workflows, construction documentation, quantity surveying, cost modeling, or multidisciplinary coordination.

About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples, including writing and reviewing model responses. Experienced professionals are paid to apply their subject knowledge so AI outputs become more accurate, useful, and aligned with real-world practice.
