The work
You will create, review, and improve complex multi-part assemblies using parametric CAD methods. Parametric modeling uses editable dimensions and relationships so designs can be updated reliably.
Your work will help create training examples for AI systems. You will explain how design choices affect assembly structure, component placement, mating strategies, tolerances, manufacturability, and overall feasibility.
- Interpret product requirements and build robust, manufacturable multi-part assemblies.
- Create, annotate, optimize, and review 3D models and assemblies.
- Explain assembly architecture, mating strategies, tolerance stack-ups, and design-for-manufacturing decisions.
- Document modeling practices, design rationale, trade-offs, and manufacturability considerations.
- Review sample designs and give detailed feedback on modeling strategy, design intent, and feasibility.
- Clarify complex CAD decisions in clear written and verbal communication.
- Contribute mentoring or educational content that explains expert CAD methods.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, part-time contractor role with an entry-level experience classification. The work is open to candidates in the listed countries across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
- Pay: $40 to $90 per hour.
- Time: Less than 20 hours per week.
- Language: Fluent English.
- Location: Open to candidates in the countries listed for this role.
- Experience: Substantial professional CAD experience with complex multi-part assemblies is preferred, typically five or more years.
- CAD expertise: Mastery of a major parametric CAD package such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, or Solid Edge.
- Credentials such as CSWE, CSWP, Autodesk Certified Instructor, Autodesk Expert Elite, ASME GDTP, or SOLIDWORKS Champion may substitute for the formal experience requirement.
- You should be able to explain design logic, trade-offs, assembly intent, and manufacturability decisions in documents and discussions.
- Strong attention to detail and effective collaboration in remote, asynchronous professional settings are required.
- Experience mentoring, teaching, or enabling other CAD users is helpful. Familiarity with FreeCAD is also useful, and prior AI experience is not required.

About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples, including expert reviews, written explanations, and ratings. OpenTrain helps people find these projects, build a profile, and apply; specialized knowledge matters because expert feedback helps AI systems learn accurate ways to reason about technical work.
