The Work
As a Biology Quality Assurance Lead, you will review AI-generated biology content and contributor work. You will check scientific accuracy, reasoning, terminology, experimental logic, units, safety, clarity, formatting, instruction-following, and rubric adherence.
You will also help improve review workflows by giving written feedback, updating trainers and quality reviewers, maintaining project documentation, supporting onboarding, and addressing recurring issues across distributed teams.
- Review biology explanations, biological mechanisms, genetics problems, diagrams, and problem-solving steps for accuracy and clarity.
- Spot-check contributor work, identify recurring quality issues, and escalate critical concerns.
- Explain biology review standards, project updates, guidelines, and rubric decisions to trainers and quality reviewers.
- Answer questions about biological reasoning, experimental design, methods, safety concerns, scientific claims, and rubric interpretation.
- Create and maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials.
- Flag unsafe, misleading, or overconfident recommendations involving lab procedures, biological samples, pathogens, genetic engineering, health claims, or biosafety.
- Support onboarding, training calls, activation follow-up, and process improvement for scalable quality assurance workflows.
What It Pays and Takes
This is an intermediate-level, part-time contract role for candidates in the United States. The work requires strong biology knowledge and the ability to give clear, detailed scientific feedback.

- 20+ hours per week.
- Remote contract work open to candidates in the United States.
- Strong English communication skills for scientific feedback and team coordination.
- A degree in biology, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, ecology, evolutionary biology, neuroscience, physiology, or a closely related field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in biology research, laboratory work, teaching, scientific writing, technical review, quality control, biotechnology, life sciences, or related work.
- Strong understanding of cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, evolution, ecology, physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, anatomy, developmental biology, and experimental design.
- Ability to find incorrect assumptions, flawed reasoning, inaccurate terminology, missing context, unsafe recommendations, unsupported facts, incomplete explanations, and misleading scientific claims using detailed rubrics.
- Experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt or response evaluation, scientific content quality assurance, or rubric-based AI evaluation is helpful.
- Helpful experience includes laboratory documentation, microscopy, PCR or qPCR, sequencing, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, ELISA, bioinformatics basics, statistical interpretation, safety data sheets, or scientific literature review.
- Experience supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, researchers, technical writers, educators, or quality reviewers is helpful.
