The work
You will help evaluate how well AI models reason about biology. The work covers scenario design, reference answers, and careful review of model-generated explanations.
You will focus on biological mechanisms, supporting evidence, uncertainty, and errors that require trained scientific judgment to recognize.
- Write realistic biology scenarios covering experimental design through interpretation.
- Create reference answers that explain the mechanisms and evidence behind each conclusion.
- Grade model outputs for mechanistic accuracy, evidence handling, and appropriate uncertainty.
- Identify answers that sound convincing but reach biologically incorrect conclusions.
What it pays and takes
This is fully remote, asynchronous independent-contractor work on an ongoing project. The role is open to candidates in the listed countries.
- Pay: $60 to $120 per hour, paid weekly through Stripe.
- Schedule: At least 20 hours per week, with no fixed hours and the ability to scale your workload up or down.
- Language: Strong written English.
- Education: An advanced degree in biology or a closely related field, or equivalent research experience.
- Experience: At least two years of research, industry, or teaching experience in the life sciences.
- Subject knowledge: Demonstrated depth in genetics, ecology, microbiology, physiology, evolution, or another biology area.
- Helpful background: Wet-lab or field research, peer-reviewed publications, teaching, or science communication experience.
- You should be able to explain scientific reasoning clearly in writing.

About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples and feedback. Biology experts are needed to judge whether model answers use sound evidence, accurate mechanisms, and appropriate uncertainty.
