The work
You will help improve AI systems by creating realistic problems in bioinformatics and computational biology, reviewing their answers, and explaining where their reasoning can improve. The work draws on genomics, next-generation sequencing analysis, sequence analysis, research workflows, and related biological computing.
You will use independent judgment on complex biological and computational questions and provide clear written feedback that supports more accurate, reproducible model responses.
- Create expert-level problems based on pipeline design, sequence analysis, and research workflows.
- Review AI-generated answers for technical accuracy, reproducibility, and alignment with computational biology practice.
- Identify errors, missing reasoning, and ways to improve model performance.
- Explain complex biological concepts clearly in structured written feedback.
What it pays and takes
This is flexible, part-time, project-based work that can fit alongside a current professional or research role. You must be able to work independently in a remote, asynchronous setting.
- Pay: Up to $75 per hour.
- Schedule: Flexible project work with a 20+ hour per week time requirement.
- Location: Open to candidates in the United States.
- Work authorization: US work authorization is required.
- Education: PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or a comparable quantitative or life sciences field, or an MS with strong industry experience.
- Experience: First-author publication experience and ownership of non-trivial bioinformatics pipelines.
- Technical depth: Experience with NGS or genomics pipelines and sequence analysis, statistical genetics, or structural biology.
- Communication: Strong written communication, careful attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex biological concepts clearly.
Helpful experience
Experience with common bioinformatics tools and environments is valuable. End-to-end ownership of genomics or NGS sequencing pipelines in academic or industry research settings is also relevant.
- BWA, GATK, samtools, BLAST, or Biopython.
- PyMOL or AlphaFold.
- R or Bioconductor.
- End-to-end genomics or NGS pipeline ownership.
