The work
You will create realistic FreeCAD tasks and complete them as demonstrations for computer-use AI systems. Your work will show how an expert builds, edits, checks, and delivers parametric CAD models.
You will also create objective evaluation data so submitted computer-use traces can be judged for accuracy, completeness, realism, and model quality.
- Design tasks from dimensioned drawings, spreadsheet-driven parameters, assemblies, TechDraw sheets, manufacturing preparation, and geometry exchange workflows.
- Build parts, sketches, assemblies, drawings, and other FreeCAD deliverables while preserving engineering intent in the model tree.
- Record complete demonstrations and explain reproducible workflows in clear English.
- Define dimensional and structural criteria for successful results.
- Review submitted traces for realistic actions, complete step-to-action mapping, and sound model quality.
- Preserve relevant files before and after each task, keep recordings free of personal information and confidential geometry, and use approved applications.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote, flexible-hour contractor role. The structured listing describes it as entry level, while the work requires substantial FreeCAD and mechanical CAD skills.
- Pay: $25 to $30 per hour.
- Schedule: Part time, with a requirement of 20 or more hours per week and flexible hours.
- Location: Open to candidates in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, Timor-Leste, the United States, and Vietnam.
- Experience: Mechanical design, product development, manufacturing engineering, or a comparable CAD-focused background.
- FreeCAD: Proven skill with Sketcher and Part Design, strong parametric modeling fundamentals, and the ability to troubleshoot constraint-solver failures, broken feature references, and problematic geometry.
- Workbenches: Working knowledge of at least two additional FreeCAD workbenches, such as Assembly, TechDraw, Draft, Spreadsheet, FEM, or CAM/Path.
- File workflows: Familiarity with STEP, IGES, BREP, STL, and mesh workflows.
- Communication: Clear written English at B2 level or higher and consistent use of detailed rubrics.
- Equipment: Ability to run FreeCAD and screen-recording software on Windows 11, Ubuntu X11, or macOS.

About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples, including demonstrations, ratings, and evaluations. OpenTrain is a platform where people find AI training and data-labeling projects, build a profile, and apply in minutes; people with specialist skills are needed for tasks that require accurate technical judgment.
